9/23 - Today marks a month since the last chapter, 'Fool's Mate'. Usually I'd have already posted another one by now, but
truth be told I'm on a brief hiatus, here. I need some time to plan the rest of this thing (it's NOT that I'm at a loss for
words, far from it, but I envisioned TYPERS as a trilogy of books, and the way things're going I'm on par to make a friggin'
quadrilogy (it was bad for 'Alien', it would be bad for me, too). So I need to step back for a moment and do a little (read:
LOT) of planning.
The next chapter is titled 'Legend of the Novanjo', though (to prove that I AM puttering around on it) but I can't go
much further without figuring out how to go about the rest of the plot... there's so much to intertwine, and I've so little
brain power to do it (but I like challenges...)
While I figure everything out I'll still keep updating 'Cotton Thistle Clearance' almost daily (and, as my posts there
indicate, I'm concurrently working on a smaller story, too). This one, unlike TYPERS, is a wholly commercial venture, and
I'm excited about it, but my heart, and nearly my entire being, is still invested in THIS story. I just owe it to myself to
make sure I get it right...
7/13 - I'm still on vacation and still a bit too busy to knock out the next chapter for the moment. I did, however, bring
my laptop with along with me, and in a moment of boredom I updated the Chenine graphic (seriously: if she were in MY army
I'd use her for propaganda, wouldn't you?)
7/5 - ... ARTIST: Shane Knolltrey ... MEDIUM: Poser and Photoshop ... TITLE: "I've worked on this most of the day, nonstop,
and it's not super great but I don't care 'cause I'm f***ing going to bed".
6/27 - I don't speak Japanese, but I CAN use AltaVista's Babelfish... it just so happened I discovered that the word 'Antithesis'
looks like a menacing creature's facial outline when it's translated into Kanji (at least I think so...)
6/8 - Surgery done... time to take off the bandages and survey my disfigurement... (that is, IF you're not squeamish, and
suffice it to say that I am NOT joking):
6/03 - My hand still burns like all get out... but I wanted to add something here while I'm not able to write or do almost
anything else. This art's not finished, but the way things're going, it's as done as it'll ever be...
Why did the college student drop his essay composition class? 'Cause he was 'Anti-Thesis'! .... That's a bad joke,
but this is a decent image...
The thing looks even worse without his shirt on. Oh, yeah: those Essene-given wounds are uber-sexy, don't ya think? I've just
recently considered the symbolism involved in the fact that his nipples were scorched off by Quint and Mehta (other than the
fact that it makes him look like one UGLY-ass chick...)
Well, the world's first and only book based on Irem Software's 'R-Type' franchise is finished (with the exception of some
much-needed editing...). Woo-hoo. Seeing as how I'm a statistics-whore, I noted the following attributes of the story (as
of 9/16/06):
The Galilean's Shame contains:
172,675 words (or roughly 690 book pages)
25 Chapters
One million, five-hundred thousand letter/number characters (this stat is worthless, I just thought it sounded cool :)
Battles fought: two minor, two major.
Times 'Justin' is mentioned: 1,402 times
Times his ass has been kicked by another human: once.
Times 'Chenine' is mentioned: 723 times
Sexual partners she's burned through so far: at least three.
Times 'blood' is referenced: 142 times.
Times 'apples' are referenced: 24 times.
Times the word 'antipathy' is used in any form: 30 times.
Times someone EXPLICITLY states what the Antipathy Project actually is: 0 times. ;)
Number of Scots-Gaelic phrases butchered by the author: too many...
