In an unending war with a faceless enemy, humanity desperately struggles to survive. The cold, steely grip of the ravenous

set the night skies afire with their unyielding wrath.
At a little known military base in an unimportant part of the world, a new Raiden unit is rolled-out: the 'Hybrid'
series. A group of unlikely candidates are given exclusive flight privalages over the mysterious ships.
At first glance, these powerful new weapons are just the latest escalation in the bitter Bydo Wars, but the secret
purpose of these mechanical behemoths, as well as the conspiracy surrounding their construction, will test the main characters'
concepts of love, hatred, and what it means to be human.
Irem software developed the original video game 'R-Type' in 1987. This novelization incorporates elements mainly from the
2003 release 'R-Type: Final'.
